Directors
Matthew Brister, President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Brister is a registered Professional Geologist with 25 years experience in Western Canada (Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, NWT), North Africa and the North Sea. Mr. Brister was the President and C.E.O. of three successful junior oil and gas producers that were profitably grown and sold over the last ten years. In that role, he gained valuable oil, gas, heavy oil and power project experience in generation, execution and management as well as capital markets experience in Canada and the United States.
P. Grant Wierzba, Vice President and Director. Mr. Wierzba has over 30 years of experience in Western Canada including senior management level with the most aggressive exploitation operations in Western Canada while at Renaissance Energy Ltd. and Pinnacle Resources Inc. Mr. Wierzba has valuable expertise in production optimization, and facility design, construction and operation as well as drilling and completions. Mr. Wierzba has strong contacts across the Canadian oilfield service sector and has international experience in Iran.
Raymond I. Woods, Director. Mr. Woods is a former Senior Vice President of Shell Canada Limited with 35 years of oil and gas industry experience. Mr. Woods was appointed Vice President in 1990 and Senior Vice President in 1993. Between 1994 and 1998 Mr. Woods served in senior executive positions with Royal Dutch/Shell, first in London as Area Coordinator Middle East and South Asia and later as Managing Director of Shell Norway. In 1998 he was appointed Senior Operating Officer, Resources, responsible for Shell Canada’s Exploration and Production business. Mr. Woods is a Past Chair of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers and currently serves as director of Northwest Territories Power Corporation and Chair of the Alberta Regional Board of the Nature Conservatory of Canada. He was recently appointed to the Government of Canada’s External Advisory Committee on Smart Regulation.
Dwain M. Lingenfelter, Director. Mr. Lingenfelter is currently Vice President, Government Relations at Nexen Inc. Prior to joining Nexen Inc. as Vice President, Government Relations in 2000, Mr. Lingenfelter had an extensive political career serving the Government of Saskatchewan in numerous capacities from 1978 to 1999, as Minister of Social Services, Opposition House Leader in 1982, Minister of Economic Development in 1991 then Minister responsible for Crown Investments Corporation, a portfolio overseeing the commercial assets of the government including Saskatchewan Power, SaskTel, SaskEnergy, Trans Gas, Saskatchewan Government Insurers, NewGrade Energy Upgrader, from 1996 to 1999. Mr. Lingenfelter held the positions of Deputy Premier from 1995 to 2000, Government House Leader from 1997 to 2000, and Minister responsible for Agriculture from 1999 to 2000.
Actively involved in the community, Mr. Lingenfelter currently serves on the Board of Nature Conservancy Canada and has been reelected for a third term, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Canada Arab Business Council. He currently became a member of the Board of Directors of the Mount Royal College Foundation and a member of the Calgary Economic Development Board.
Simon Munro, Director. Mr. Munro joined the Lime Rock Partners team in 2002 as a Director. Mr. Munro has played a vital role in many Lime Rock Partners’ investments including Acteon Group, Bridge Energy, Caledus, PSL Energy Services, Reservoir Exploration Technology, Serimax Holdings, Silverstone Energy, Storm Ventures International, Twister, and V-Tech. Mr. Munro’s career began in 1992 at Rutherford Manson Dowds, a Scottish chartered accountancy firm. He gained his professional accounting qualifications in 1994 and thereafter, worked solely on corporate finance transactions. In 1999, he joined Simmons & Company’s Aberdeen office as a Vice President, and in 2001 he joined J.P. Morgan as a member of the Hong Kong-based oil and gas industry team. Mr. Munro currently serves on the Board of Directors of Bridge Energy, Caledus, Gas2, Silverstone Energy, Storm Ventures International, and V-Tech. He formerly served on the Board of Directors of Serimax Holdings. Mr. Munro has over 16 years experience in private equity, accounting, and corporate finance.
John A. Brussa, Director. Mr. Brussa is a partner in the Calgary-based energy law firm of Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer LLP specializing in the area of taxation. He is also a director of a number of energy and energy related trusts and oil and gas growth companies. John is a past governor of the Canadian Tax Foundation and is a director or trustee of a number of charitable and non-profit organizations.

Storm Ventures International is led by a team of professionals who have demonstrated a successful track record of corporate and project initiation, growth and value crystallization in Western Canada over the last 25 years. Between them, the partners possess 50 + years of strong "hands on" production, project management and business development skills that have been focused on international oil operations in North Africa and the Middle East.

Roy Smitshoek, Chief Operating Officer and Vice President, Engineering. A professional engineer with 25 years of varied experience in the energy business much of it in senior management capacities in both small and large organizations. At Renaissance Energy Ltd. Mr. Smitshoek led the development of the Exploitation Department and subsequently headed up corporate development. He was responsible for property and corporate acquisitions as well as international business development. He has experience in Western Canada, the North Sea and other producing regions.
L. Geoffrey Barlow, Chief Financial Officer and Vice-President, Finance. Mr. Barlow was appointed Chief Financial Officer effective November 1st 2007. Previously he was Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of a major publicly held integrated energy and energy related company headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. He also held senior management positions at Renaissance Energy. Mr. Barlow is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Charted Accountants of Alberta and Financial Executive Institute of Canada.
Tom Lindskog, Vice President, Exploration. Mr. Lindskog is a registered Professional Geologist with 25 years experience in Western Canada and North Africa. Mr. Lindskog has successfully managed a team of technical professionals in the execution of annual drilling programs encompassing over 250 wells and budgets of more than $100 million in addition to having play generation experience and success over a wide range of play types in Western Canada. Tom has found new reserves and production in a number of areas including Peace River Arch, Bigoray and Calling Lake.
Terry Sharkey, CET, CADE, Manager, Drilling Operations. Prior to joining Storm Ventures to manage the Company’s drilling operations in North Africa and to assist with the supervision of Silverstone operations in the North Sea, Terry held the role of Vice President, Drilling and Completions with Husky Oil Inc. which included responsibilities in domestic, frontier and international operations. He held similar roles with Renaissance Energy Ltd. for 11 years prior to their merger with Husky Energy Inc. Domestic programs in excess of 1600 wells per year and capital expenditures over $500,000,000 were managed efficiently and responsibly in an increasingly complex HSE environment. Prior to joining Renaissance, Terry provided consulting services and had early experience with Baker Oil Tools and Otis Engineering.
Travis Stephenson, Senior Reservoir Engineer. Travis has 8 years of varied experience in the oil and gas industry in Western Canada. Mr. Stephenson started his career at Renaissance Energy in 1999 and then continued on to work for Husky Energy after they acquired Renaissance in 2000. His time at Husky granted him the opportunity to expand his knowledge in exploitation and production roles. Mr. Stephenson has also worked for Chamaelo Exploration, Vault Energy Trust, and most recently Trident Exploration where he gained valuable experience in the unconventional gas field. Mr. Stephenson is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists, and Geophysicists of Alberta.
Jameleddine Lazreg, General Manager, North Africa. Prior to joining Storm Ventures International in 2005, Jamel was with Entreprise Tunisienne D’Activités Pétrolières (ETAP) in the capacity of Manager Promotions where he was responsible for the introduction of Tunisian business opportunities to prospective new entrants to the country on behalf of ETAP and the Directorate of Energy, Ministry of Industry and Energy, Tunisia (DGE). He facilitated the technical review and business negotiations leading to several block awards. Jamel also has a good grasp on the regional prospectivity and specific potential of many of the blocks in Tunisia. He also has input into business development roles throughout the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
